The CCXR was a CCX with added “flower power”, as it could also run on renewable fuel such as E85 ethanol – making it the world’s first green super sports car.
No other super sports car manufacturer was thinking of an environmentally friendly approach at the time. The CCXR was able to take performance to a whole new level, as ethanol fuels have a higher octane rating than regular gasoline, allowing for increased power. The CCXR produced over 200 hp more than the already impressive CCX – reaching an incredible 1018 hp.
